Nutritional Management of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

In some children with ASD, food sensitivities appear to be a problem.  For this group, dietary changes can result in improvements in gastrointestinal symptoms and associated behavioural issues.  Furthermore, food selectivity/aversion and weight concerns are common issues among  children with ASD which can lead to nutritional deficiencies.

EAT LIVE THRIVE can assist parents and children with ASD to improve the nutritional adequacy of their diets and reduce stress associated with mealtimes by addressing:

·       Suspected food sensitivities/intolerances

·       Gastrointestinal issues – including frequent constipation

·       Food aversion – textures, smells, appearance, entire food groups

·       Food selectivity or extreme “fussiness”

·       Poor weight gain, underweight, faltering growth

·       Excessive weight gain, overweight
